Tuntable Falls Bridge
Structural Engineering, Construction Phase Support
Cable Span Australia engaged Civil Structures Studio (CSS) to undertake site inspections during construction of this 39m span suspension pedestrian bridge.
The Tuntable Falls Creek bridge is located in the upper Tuntable creek area and serves as a vital link to the local primary school during wet weather that often floods the main vehicle access. The bridge itself is constructed with reinforced concrete shallow footings with micro-piles, steel superstructure with FRP deck panelling to form a lightweight structure.
The project involved attending site during the construction activities to ensure compliance with the design documentation.
Innovations / Efficiencies:
The CSS involvement identified several efficiencies and optimisations that contributed to the success of the finished product.
Outcomes / Benefits:
CSS identified several potential construction non-conformances that were quickly resolved by the construction team and led to a quality finished product for the client and local community.
Sustainability:
The bridge is in a natural oasis rainforest over the crystal clear waters of Tuntable falls creek. The philosophy of the bridge aligned with the nearby community and primary school where sustainability is at the hear of all that they do. The structure itself is a lightweight, low embodied carbon structure that will be durable and economically beneficial for the local community.
